Lumberjack Woodcutting is a Sport

As well as an art, woodcutting is also a sport. Read about the woman who won the 2018 Stihl Timbersports Women’s Division Championship. 2018 is the first year that women competed on the same stage as the male athletes. The sport pits competitors against one another in timed wood-chopping events.

The Stihl Timbersports Series is a series of competitions based on wood-chopping. To compete against each other the athletes use axes and saws, using the same methods as lumberjacks. The competition was founded in 1985.

Thanks to Paul Pomerleau, a woodworking enthusiast from Canada who has his own YouTube Channel, you can watch a bandsaw technology video where Paul describes how to calculate the size of blade needed for his bandsaw.
