Famous Woodworkers/Designers

Here is a list of famous woodworkers or designers weve compiled, all who work with or make things with wood.
 
Alvar Aalto - 3 February 1898 to 11 May 1976 - a Finnish architect and designer, as well as a sculptor and painter who made this tea trolley.



Norm Abram - born October 3, 1949 - an American carpenter known for his work on the PBS television programs This Old House and The New Yankee Workshop.

John Boson - born around 1705 - a cabinet maker and carver who worked on St. George's Church, Bloomsbury in London.

Henning Engelsen - 5 February 1918 – 8 September 2005 - was a Norwegian woodcarver and illustrator, born in Sandefjord, Norway.

Wharton Esherick - July 15, 1887 – May 6, 1970 - a sculptor who worked in wood and is best known for his sculptural furniture and furnishings like this 'Music Stand' made from cherrywood in 1962.

Tage Frid - 30 May 1915 – 6 May 2004 - a Danish-born woodworker and author who influenced the development of the studio furniture movement in the United States.

Greta Hopkinson - 4 October 1901 - September 1993 - a British wood sculptor whose work appeared at the Southampton Art Gallery exhibition "Dead Wood Alive" in 1977.

James Krenov - October 31, 1920 – September 9, 2009 - a woodworker and studio furnituremaker who in 1976 published his first book, “A Cabinetmaker’s Notebook”.
