You might know your circular saw blades like we do. But this guy know his saw blades and his wood. He hosts an informative video on his YouTube Channel - WoodWorkWeb. The short film gives you an idea of what circular saw blade to use for which material like natural wood. For example, are you cutting with the wood grain or against the grain? If so you'll need a different circular saw blade for each. The film also covers things like how many teeth a saw blade needs to cut wood.

Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts

Here's one for the woodcraft community.

Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts is a specialist woodworking magazine that focusses on the art of scroll sawing and scrollwork. A scroll saw, by the way, for anyone who unsure, is a small electric saw (or pedal-operated saw) you use to cut intricate curves in wood or metal and other materials. It's an ancient craft where the decoration is dominated by spiralling scrolls.

If this sounds interesting, you might want to take a look at the Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts magazine - "published quarterly and features interesting and creative scrollers, projects, and techniques, inspiring articles showing artists."

Woodwork Tutorial - Gone Viral

This woodworking tutorial has gone viral. We found a report on it in Google News. The reason that the film has gone viral is due to the few cheeky innuendos the presenter gives while making a piece of furniture. For example, while attaching table legs together, she says: Spread those legs ladies and place that 13 inch wood one inch below the top of them... A very cheeky thing to say! The sketch, which is an okay woodwork guide, was made for YouTube channel Something Fishy.

Circular Saws

A Fix-It Club piece about circular saws ... When working with lumber, a portable circular saw is a very handy tool with a variety of uses.

What Is a Circular Saw?

A circular saw is an electric saw that turns a round flat blade to cut wood, metal, or plastic depending on the blade selected. Circular saws have a handle with on/off trigger switch, an arbor nut to hold the blade in place, and guards to protect the operator from touching the spinning blade. In addition, circular saws have height/depth and bevel adjustments. Refer to the circular saw's operations manual for specifics.
Click to buy TCT circular saw blades from Gerrymet

How to Safely Use a Circular Saw

It is especially important to wear eye protection when operating an electric circular saw. To safely use a circular saw, select the blade appropriate to the job, firmly attach it to the saw using the arbor nut, then adjust the sole plate for proper height and bevel for the job. When ready to cut, plug the saw into an electrical outlet, firmly hold the handle, align the blade near (not touching) the mark to be cut, press the safety switch, then press the trigger switch. Slowly follow the cut mark. When nearly done, make sure the end of the wood being cut is held and will not splinter due to the unsupported weight. For safety, remember that the teeth are sharp and should not be placed on surfaces that they could damage.

How to Maintain a Circular Saw

Circular saws need periodic cleaning with an unused paint brush or an air supply to remove sawdust. Better-quality circular saw blades can be professionally sharpened as needed. Less-expensive blades are more economical to replace.

Other useful saws include various handsaws and reciprocal saws. The circular saw can be modified to cut several materials by selecting other circular blades.

Home Repair Tools: Whether you prefer to use the Yellow Pages for anything that needs fixing around the house or consider yourself a regular do-it-yourselfer, there are a handful of tools that everyone should have in their tool box. Learn all about them in this article.

Power Saws: When you need a little more power or are tackling a large job with lots of cuts, your best bet is probably a power saw. The most common types include circular saws, saber saws, and reciprocal saws. Check out this article for helpful information on all power saws.

Saber Saw: A saber saw features a small saw blade that moves up and down across the object to be cut. Even better, there are a variety of saber saw blades to choose from to cut whatever material you're working with.
